abstract = "The L-band multi-polarized (HH, HV) PALSAR imagery and
high-resolution gamma ray data (K, U, Th, TC channels) were
evaluated for geological studies in the {\'A}guas Claras region,
site of the important Cu-Au (W-Bi-Sn) deposit in the central part
of the Caraj{\'a}s Mineral Province (CMP), Brazilian Amazon.
Airborne high-resolution geophysical digital data were provided by
VALE mining company and were integrated with PALSAR images through
pseudo-tables and IHS transform. The RGB-IHS integration of PALSAR
with gamma data produced image patterns with color variations
expressing changes of the bedrock radioelements, while SAR
contributed to the enhancement of textural patterns. The gamma
Total Count (CT) responses include a contribution of K, U, and Th
radiations and were more reliable for rock discrimination. The
                         studied area encompasses Archean units of the Gr{\~a}o Par{\'a}
Group (metavolcanics and banded iron formations) and the
{\'A}guas Claras Formation (sedimentary rocks), the western part
of the Central Serra dos Caraj{\'a}s Granite (1.88 Ga) and
extensive tertiary lateritic covers. At the time of the Central
Granite emplacement the evolution of CMP was characterized by a
brittle transpressive tectonic, locally transtensive. The systems
of structural lineaments striking NW-SE were enhanced under
ascending pass, while NE-SW systems were highlighted with
descending pass. The structural arrangement suggests the presence
                         of transtensive structures NW-SE and ENE-WSW (Y and T,
respectively, in the theoretic empirical model for strike-slip
shear zone), important for the migration of hydrothermal fluids
responsible for the re-concentration of the ore elements in the
{\'A}guas Claras deposit. The RGB-IHS integration of PALSAR with
gamma K showed spatial relationships of Y and T structures with K
                         anomalies.",
